Steve Jacobs and Tom Cavanagh attend AICA Global Meeting in Oslo
BCC Advisers once again participated in the Annual Global Meeting for AICA (Alliance of International Corporate Advisors). This year’s meeting was held May 4-6 in Oslo, Norway, where representatives from 40 M&A firms located in 43 countries around the world met to develop collaborative projects, discuss topics of general interest, share best practices and build on relationships with AICA colleagues allowing for strong global connections which ultimately benefit our clients.
Investment banker and BCC Advisers vice president, Tom Cavanagh, shared his experience, success and challenges working on a U.S./Danish transaction in a co-presentation on best practices regarding cross-border deals. Steve Jacobs, BCC’s president and head of the investment banking division, serves as AICA’s treasurer and provided the annual financial report to AICA’s board of directors and membership.
AICA welcomed six new member firms, further broadening the organization’s global dimensions in The Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, Ireland and Hong Kong. Work sessions provided a chance for dealmakers to share current M&A projects with cross-border opportunities; breakout sessions afforded analysts and new M&A professionals an occasion to learn from and collaborate with colleagues; and knowledge was shared through industry discussion groups. Other activities included best practice/deal presentations and general sessions, such as a presentation on political shifts affecting business (including the impact of the new U.S. administration on the rest of the world and the impact of Brexit in Europe and the broader M&A climate).
