Jim Rothermich Awarded MAI Designation
BCC Advisers affiliate, Iowa Appraisal and Research Corporation, is pleased to announce that Jim Rothermich has been awarded the Appraisal Institute’s prestigious MAI membership designation. The designation is held by appraisers who are experienced in the valuation and evaluation of commercial, industrial, residential and other types of properties, and who advise clients on real estate investment decisions.
By earning the MAI designation, Rothermich has joined an elite group of appraisers who have met rigorous requirements relating to education, testing, experience and demonstration of knowledge, understanding and ability.
The MAI designation is earned upon the successful completion of a graduate-level curriculum, which includes a comprehensive exam, a written demonstration appraisal report and attaining 4,500 hours of qualifying experience requirements. MAIs are recognized experts in appraising properties of all kinds and form a business network encompassing markets nationwide and in Canada.
Rothermich brings nearly three decades of experience in the fields of agricultural economics, farm production, land appraisals and real estate sales to the firm, specializing in the valuation of farmland and farm related improvements such as complex agribusiness properties, production agriculture properties, dairy farms, swine confinements, crop farms with grain facilities, cattle feedlots, and pork processing facilities, in addition to commercial and industrial properties. His industry experience is vast, having worked in hog production with Smithfield Foods in North Carolina and Missouri, grain elevator operations with shuttle train and barge loading capabilities in Nebraska and Iowa, selling corn and soybean seed for Stine Seed Co. in northern Missouri, and performing appraisals in five Midwestern states for one of the largest farm management companies. Rothermich is a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser with the State of Iowa, and a licensed real estate salesperson in Iowa and Missouri, a board member and public relations chair for the Appraisal Institutes’ Iowa Chapter, a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) – including Iowa and Missouri Chapters, and past board member of the Missouri Chapter of ASFMRA. Rothermich holds a B.S. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
