Alan D. Ryerson is Secretary of BCC ADVISERS. Mr. Ryerson has served as a consultant
and business adviser to middle-market businesses in the areas of taxation, business planning, financial
budgeting and forecasting, mergers and acquisitions and business valuations throughout his professional
career. His broad technical expertise provides a fertile resource in dealing with issues that arise in
the course of merger and acquisition, business valuation and litigation support assignments. Mr. Ryerson
specializes in providing business valuation and litigation support services to clients of BCC ADVISERS.
Prior to joining BCC ADVISERS in August 1992, Mr. Ryerson served as Chief Financial
Officer of Holmes Murphy & Associates, a Des Moines-based, privately-owned, multi-line, independent
insurance agency from May 1983 to July 1992. He commenced his professional career at KPMG Peat Marwick
in July 1976, progressing to the position of Senior Manager in the firm's Des Moines office tax practice.
An Iowa native, Mr. Ryerson earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting)
from Drake University in May 1976. He is a Certified Public Accountant with a permit to practice in
the state of Iowa and also holds an Iowa Life and Health Insurance Agent's License. Mr. Ryerson has
earned the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation with the American Institute of CPAs
and is an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) with the American Society of Appraisers.
Mr. Ryerson is a member of numerous professional and civic organizations and is past President
of the Iowa Society of CPAs and the Iowa Chapter of Financial Executives International. In 1993,
he was selected by The Des Moines Register as one of Iowa's "Up and Comers", an honor bestowed
each year on 24 of the state's rising young business and economic development leaders.
